Our client Kiptagich Tea Estates Ltd is a tea manufacturing company based in Olengoruone, Nakuru county, Kenya and is seeking to recruit a high caliber, results oriented, experienced and highly skilled individual for the position of the General Manager. See below details of the job description.
Role General Manager
Reports to The Board of Directors

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
The General Manager will play a critical function in the implementation of Kiptagich Tea Estates Ltd strategic plan. He/she will be a key player in providing strategic direction and leadership to the company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Develop and execute the company business strategies in order to attain the goals of the company;
  • Provide strategic advice to the board so that they will have accurate view of the business;
  • Prepare and implement comprehensive business plans to facilitate achievement by planning cost-effective operations and market development activities;
  • Ensure company policies and legal guidelines are communicated all the way from the top down in the company and that they are followed at all times in relation to the business;
  • Meet business targets as outlined in the strategic plan;
  • Optimize the overall operations of the plant and production facility;
  • Establish systems to collect metrics, analyze productivity and set performance targets that will meet revenue and cost goals;
  • Ensures robust plant safety and security procedures (OSH) and training are in place and that operations are in compliance with all required regulations;
  • Directs plant level support functions including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources to ensure alignment with overall plant operations;
  • Provide leadership and strategic vision to the entire establishment of Kiptagich Tea Estates Ltd.;
  • Analyze problematic situations and occurrences and provide solutions to ensure company survival and growth;
  • Oversee the implementation of the company’s financial and no financial policies.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES.
Qualification

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Bachelor degree in any of the following; Agribusiness, Engineering or Business-related field from a university recognized in Kenya;
  • Have at least 10 years of industrial manufacturing experience with a minimum of 5 years in a senior/leadership position in a manufacturing company;
  • Master of Business Administration Degree shall be an added advantage

  • Strong analytical skills and experience in interpreting a strategic vision into an operational model
  • An effective communicator at all levels in the organization, with strong oral and written skills in English language
  • Ability to manage people and organizational change
  • A good planning, organizational and financial management skills
